Born from a passion for barbecue. I started very young, 12 years old watching my Dad.I started really getting into cooking barbecue in 1970 after marriage. I had an el-cheapo grill that I used charcoal to just cook. In the 80s I found a guy who ran a bbq resturant, who taught me about long and slow smoking. My wife bought me a grill called the black dog. It had a fire box on the end that was big enough for wood. I cooked with mesquite and oak. Twelve hour brisket is so good. My son and I entered a barbecue cook off. We came in 4th place. Pellet grills came in first. Of course I had to have one. I retired in 2010, and started learning how to do reviews.
